Better Than A Fairy Tale
Could I love this little bird more than the others, well probably not because we have so beautiful birds here in Australia but he would have to be one of my favourite. He certainly keeps me entertained when out and about in our garden. The Scaly-Breasted Lorikeet is a small bird being only 22-24cm in size and is the only Lorikeet with an unmarked green head and the neck and breast has a distinctive yellow scaly pattern. Their bill and eyes are red but in a juvenile their bill is brownish and they have less yellow in plumage They associate...
Larrikin Rainbow Lorikeet
I love capturing the Rainbow Lorikeet also known as Blue Mountain Parrot and Red-collared Lorikeet. They would be one of the most expressive birds that I know. Their antics and gestures are just beautiful. They certainly like to entertain those watching them. The colors of their feathers are vibrant and rich and combine together to give the WOW factor. They feed all year round at our property in the flowering natives. Size: 25-32cm No other Australian parrot has streaked blue head and orange chest. Their desired habitat is rain forests, eucalypt forests, woodlands, paperbark woodlands, coastal banksia, scrubs, heaths, mangroves,...
A Special Very Cheeky Crimson Rosella
Selecting one of my photos to be printed on canvas then framed, is a very difficult time consuming project, often involving going through hundreds and hundreds of great photos. Then all of a sudden you see a photo that puts the biggest smile on your face, a photo that you experienced a special connection with and you know that is the photo to have done. That was the case with this unbelievable Crimson Rosella It wasn't long after my Mum passed away, and I was standing in a garden taking photos of a handsome male King Parrot I wasn't expecting...
Our First Set Of Cork Baked Placemats and Coasters
So why did we select the Male Scarlet Honeyeater to feature on our first Cork Backed Placemats and Coasters when we have so many lovely images of Australian Native Birds to choose from? Our eldest son and his partner bought me a bird book for Christmas a few years ago. The book was written by Graham Pizzey and it was illustrated by Frank Knight The name of the book is 'The Field Guide To The BIRDS OF AUSTRALIA' This book has great detail and information helping to make bird identification a little easier. I was intrigued by the Scarlet Honeyeater...
Bees Are Very Important and Very Precious
My favorite captures this week are the amazing very clever Bees spreading the word about how important they are for our worlds survival They never stop buzzing from flower to flower collecting all the pollen Another important food source for the bees is nectar Bees do an amazing job pollination If we don't stop using pesticides and chemicals and fertilisers our Bee colonies all over the world will be destroyed. If all our Bees die we will not have a world to live in, we will have no trees, flowers, plants, no oxygen to breath, this is just putting it mildly....
