A couple of Aussie Finches

Honestly, I personally have found Finch's are the most complicated to investigate. There is nothing simple about them at all. There appears to be 15 species of Finch's in Australia.You can also do your own search or you can click on the  Red-Browed Finch. They are a beautiful little bird and fairly tame for having their photos taken. They are 11-11.5cm in size. A Morning With The Rainbow Lorikeets

Unfortunately with Brisbane being in Lock Down again Lindy and I had to cancel our day road trip on Wednesday but I didn't mind as the Lorikeets on our property kept us entertained. Double-Barred Finch

Another little Aussie gem is the Double-Barred Finch which is a tiny 10-11cm in size. It is also known as the Banded or Black-ringed Finch. It has 2 distintive thin black bars across its lower white throat and chest, the rump is also white and the tail is black. It is seed foraging in pairs or flocks. Similar species are Banded Whiteface, and White-fronted Chat. I have only spotted this little charfmer a couple of time, first time was onnour road trip to Dubbo in September 2019 where I captured him (see Featured Photo) and at Petrie near the river...

Red Browed Finch

The bright scarlet bill, eyebrow and rump makes it easy to identify this little bird which is found only down the east coast of Australia and into coastal South Australia. The Juveniles bill is black and it lacks the eyebrow but has a scarlet rump like the adults. They are only 11-11.5cm in size. Similar species is the beautiful Red-eared Firetails which I haven't photographed yet as they are only in a small area in southern Western Australia. The King Parrots never disappoint me I get the opportunity to photograph them. These photos were all taken at O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat Qld a couple of years ago and just never got around to posting them. Iam lucky as I don't have to travel now to get my King Parrot photos as I have my own little family of them visit us on our property and come to almost arms reach of us while relaxing under our patio.
