Another little Aussie gem is the Double-Barred Finch which is a tiny 10-11cm in size. It is also known as the Banded or Black-ringed Finch. It has 2 distintive thin black bars across its lower white throat and chest, the rump is also white and the tail is black. It is seed foraging in pairs or flocks. Similar species are Banded Whiteface, and White-fronted Chat. I have only spotted this little charfmer a couple of time, first time was onnour road trip to Dubbo in September 2019 where I captured him (see Featured Photo) and at Petrie near the river...

Selecting one of my photos to be printed on canvas then framed, is a very difficult time consuming project, often involving going through hundreds and hundreds of great photos. Then all of a sudden you see a photo that puts the biggest smile on your face, a photo that you experienced a special connection with and you know that is the photo to have done. That was the case with this unbelievable Crimson Rosella It wasn't long after my Mum passed away, and I was standing in a garden taking photos of a handsome male King Parrot I wasn't expecting...

On the morning of our 7th day road trip to Dubbo, I was awake very early as I wanted to enjoy the grounds before we headed up to have breakfast in the restaurant before leaving. Departing Dorrigo, we were originally going to travel down the mountain which was a beauitful drive calling into Bellingen but a friend suggested we do the inland road, she said it was a beautiful drive. So we set off, the road was narrow but had a good surface winding its way around corners down gullies, driving through some of Australians most beautiful National Parks Junuy...

We said goodbye to the Cattlemans Country Inn Dubbo about 5.00am as we wanted to have breakfast at this great little place we found in Dubbo.  Once on the road our first stop was planed for at Gunnedah which was about a 3 hour drive from Dubbo, however when we got there we couldn't find anywhere to stop and freshen up and we didn't want to spend too much time there looking for somewhere as we still had a long way to go to get to Dorrigo hopefully by mid afternoon, so we stopped about 10 minutes out of Gunnedah...

We thoroughly enjoyed stretching our legs walking around the very pretty town of Armidale. There was a large park just a short stroll from our motel. There were lots of birds but I was hoping to capture the Black Cockatoo. Unfortunately we didn't see them but we did see the Eastern Rosella We also spotted the female and male King Parrot Lindy and I woke early ready for the start of our second day of our road trip to Dubbo. After a nourishing brekkie we hit the road. Lindy had our whole trip mapped out and with the help from...
