Another little Aussie gem is the Double-Barred Finch which is a tiny 10-11cm in size. It is also known as the Banded or Black-ringed Finch. It has 2 distintive thin black bars across its lower white throat and chest, the rump is also white and the tail is black. It is seed foraging in pairs or flocks. Similar species are Banded Whiteface, and White-fronted Chat. Red Browed Finch

The bright scarlet bill, eyebrow and rump makes it easy to identify this little bird which is found only down the east coast of Australia and into coastal South Australia. The Juveniles bill is black and it lacks the eyebrow but has a scarlet rump like the adults. They are only 11-11.5cm in size. Similar species is the beautiful Red-eared Firetails which I haven't photographed yet as they are only in a small area in southern Western Australia. Up until last summer I had never seen a juvenile King Parrot, in fact I hadn't even seen a King Parrot male or female until April 2019. Since then they have frequently visited our property. Another bird I didn't expect to capture on camera was this stunning Male Regent Bowerbird. He is a medium size bird 25-30m and are Sexually Dimorphic. He is a glossy jet-black, with his crown, nape and inner wing feathers bright golden orange and his bill and eye being yellow. Males acquire their adult plumage at 5 years. The Male can be difficult to see as he is mostly seen as a flash of gold/black in quick flight between cover.
