Babies Growing Up

Up until last summer I had never seen a juvenile King Parrot, in fact I hadn't even seen a King Parrot male or female until April 2019. Since then they have frequently visited our property. It started with 2 females and 1 male juvenile King Parrots which was amazing as we were able to watch the male transform into the stunning male that he is with his all red head and chest. This first juvenile Male had his first chick last summer and the Male and female bought him down to show him off to my husband and I. Normally you don't see them because the parents kept them up high in the tree tops away from harm, so this was a thrill and we feel a big privilege. We have him as the feature photo of this post.

This is our first juvenile male King Parrot now with his full adult plumage that visited us a couple of days ago. When birds are breeding they use a lot of energy, so when all our Natives and Grevillea's are flowering unfortunately there is not a lot of seed for those birds that are seed eaters such as the King Parrots and the Pale- Headed Rosella just to mention a couple. So we put some wild parrot seed out for them. The featured juvenile King Parrot is this males first chick.

The image below is the featured juvenile male king parrot growing up and his plumage is looking stunning, but think it will be nearly another season before he gets his full adult plumage

He came here also with a female so I wouldn't be surprised if he also has his first chick this season and of course our first big boy may also have another chick this season as well. How exciting and this little guy looks so fluffy still

Here he is sitting on a large saucer that we keep filled up with clean water throughout the day

Here he was rocking backwards and forwards like he was dancing. He was definitely cuteness overload

I love the way he has nearly crossed his feet in this capture. They are so expressive and appear to also love having their photo taken.

Sometimes you would think they are trying to talk to us. This little guy is full of character and personality

Yep I think my next set of 6 place mats and 6 coasters are going to go into the design mode

Dedicated to all the Australian Fauna and Flora lost in the 2019/2020 bush fires
