The Third And Fourth Days Of Our Road Trip To Dubbo

We were having two full days at Taronga Western Plains Zoo so we decided on our first day we would do all the guided tours first, leaving us to wander freely around the Zoo on the second day.

I think for me the highlight was feeding the Tigers

This was a private feed where a few people went into a special area that exposed the tigers. They came right up to us and we were able to feed them holding their food with tongs. When they jumped up on the wire fence to take the food they were huge, but surprisingly gentle, though if you went into their area, it may be a different story.

We both enjoyed all the tours we did, not leaving much time for anything else on the first day.

The first tour we did was the Lion safari, where we went in buses that had special glass and were very strong. The lions were not very active with most of them just lying in the sun. The bus ride was very bumpy making it impossible to take photos until the bus stopped which it did several times on the tour

The Giraffe was another favourite of the day with their gorgeous face, and their long legs slowly strolling around their paddocks

The cheeky Cheetah  kept us amused, once again I was taken by their lovely facial features and not their teeth. The gentle breeze blowing their long fur coats made them look great. They were not in cages but were on an island surrounded by a wide water channel.

The cheetah is interesting to photograph and I was very happy with the collection of Cheetah photos I have.

There were lots of nicely set our picnic areas around the zoo. You certainly need the 2 days to go around it all and the 2 days were included in our ticket.

We watched the White Handed Gibbon monkeys, they were very entertaining and enjoyed the applause they got from everyone. Also the Ring-Tailed Lemur they were extremely acrobatic and loved leaping from one tree top to another. They were happy to show off their balancing skills as well on the ropes. We could of watched them for ages but we had to keep moving.

Unfortunately I can't post a photo of everything I took a photo of at the zoo, but I can say this it was a great two days and we were sorry the second day there was our last day.

On the 5th day of our road trip we went to Dubbo Reginal Botanic Garden

I will cover day 5 of our road trip to Dubbo on my next blog post
