Male King Parrot

This Male King Parrot just flew into our backyard yesterday. He has been hanging around here since he was a young juvenile, now he has bought his female friend and his young male juvenile chick only out of the nest for a few days.

Where we live it is very hot and humid, and we have lived here for 28 years and we have never seen them here before, then about last April they showed up and stayed around. They usually are more up on the tablelands and mountains. I won't complain as they make our garden look pretty with all that lovely color

That face, that look, those eyes

They are very quiet and they don't bother any of the other birds, stick to themselves and don't make a lot of noise like some other birds

They are a great bird to have around.

This is his cheeky juvenile. At this early stage it is showing signs of being a male.

The King Parrot when fully grown is 41-44cm in size. He has a long tail

Their breeding season is from Sept-Jan  and the female will lay 3-6 eggs

They look amazing inflight too. Was lucky to get these couple of inflight captures.

This male juvenile here is the Male King Parrot in the feature image of this post, but he was still developing here.

If you see a King Parrot, appreciate it as it is unique to Australia and very precious.
